Characters (including letters, symbols, and spaces) count towards your limit when they are processed into audio. When editing audio, only additional paragraphs or paragraphs with changed voices will count towards your character limit during reprocessing. This means you can make minor text edits for "free".
Editing via the TTS Editor
Whether your audio was created automatically or manually, you can edit it in the TTS Editor.
1.
Go to the 'Content (Audios)' section of your project dashboard and hover on the audio you would like to edit
2.
Select 'â‹®' to open the submenu, then select 'Edit text'
3.
You will be taken to our Text-to-Speech Editor, where you can:
When you have finished making changes, select 'Update audio'
1.
Enter or change the author's name (optional — this will be stored as metadata)
2.
Enter or change the corresponding URL (optional — this will be stored as metadata)
5.
If you are editing audio that was created automatically, you will be presented with the option to enable or disable CMS updates via a toggle switch:
CMS updates enabled: Changes to the source text will trigger automatic reprocessing, meaning that your edits may be overwritten.
CMS updates disabled: Changes to the source page will not trigger automatic reprocessing. This means that your edited version cannot be automatically overwritten.
6.
Select 'Schedule for later' (optional — scheduling means that your audio will not be available via players or the podcast feed until the scheduled time)
7.
Select 'Update audio'
Your audio will now be reprocessed — you can check its status in your dashboard. You will be charged characters for any additional paragraphs or paragraphs with changed voices.
Editing via your CMS
By default, CMS updates are enabled for audio that is created automatically. This means that audio is automatically reprocessed in line with changes to the source text, and is helpful for maintaining accurate narration. (You will only be charged characters for any additional paragraphs.)
However, you can disable CMS updates. This is recommended when you edit your audio via the TTS Editor, as it reduces the risk of your edited version being accidentally overwritten (see step 5 above).
You can also disable or enable CMS updates like so:
1.
Go to the 'Content (Audios)' section of your project dashboard
2.
Hover on the audio you would like to disable or enable CMS updates for
3.
Select 'â‹®' to open the submenu, then select 'Disable CMS updates' or 'Enable CMS updates'
